Eat Real + Stanford Team Up to Transform Student Health

Big news! Eat Real and the Stanford Nutrition Studies Research Group are joining forces to transform school food and improve kids’ health. Backed by a new grant from Ardmore Institute of Health, this first-of-its-kind research partnership will study the impact of healthy school meals on student performance, well-being, and eating habits.

The health of our kids is declining at alarming rates, driven in large part by the rise of access to ultra-processed foods. And with more than 30 million kids in the U.S. eating school meals every day—most getting over half of their daily calories from the cafeteria—school lunch programs are one of the most powerful tools we have to change the trajectory of their health.

With support from the Stanford Nutrition Studies Research Group, led by Dr. Christopher Gardner, the study will explore:

  • The ripple effect of healthier school lunches on families and home nutrition habits
  • How aligning menus with Eat Real’s real food standards impacts student behavior and academic performance

A Vision Bigger Than the Lunch Tray

For Eat Real, this study is about more than just menus. It’s about proving that nutritious school meals support student health and create ripples of change at home and in communities.

👉 Stay tuned as we share updates from this exciting research. Together, we’re working to ensure that every child has access to meals that are not only delicious and nourishing but also capable of transforming public health and the future of our planet.
