Eat REAL was started in 2012 with one mission – define what it means to source and serve real food. We created a program and continually iterated our standards to reflect our learnings from working with each restaurant as well as emerging science.
Over the course of 6 years, Eat REAL certified over 500 foodservice establishments across 35 states. These restaurants, caterers, corporate cafeterias, hospitals and universities shaped our program. Our work in the restaurant space allowed us to test and develop our standards before bringing them to the K-12 school districts where we work today.Â
