Immediately upon opening their doors, Root & Stem catering set out to be at the forefront of REAL food within their industry. Whereas many caterers are happy just to get in a shipment of frozen, pre-prepared meals and stick it in the oven, Root & Stem takes the exact opposite approach. The food is made from scratch and sourced with care from small, local purveyors - the same as the best restaurants. Serving the Metropolitan Washington area, Root & Stem provides catering for all corporate and creative events.
The REAL Beginning
When Zac Culbertson and Craig Currie joined forces nearly 3 years ago, they had a singular vision - to prepare great food from scratch using seasonal ingredients from local purveyors AND serve it through their catering company. They knew there would be challenges that are unique to the catering industry, such as planning a meal for hundreds of people that is 3 months away and having to determine what will be in season - but that's just another day in the life. As a pioneer in an industry that serves SO many meals on a daily basis, Zac and Craig struck a chord with their customers and Root & Stem was an immediate success. It turns out that people love great food, customized for their needs, brought straight to their door...who would have thought?
